FAQs

does virtual training really work?

Yes! Covid forced many trainers to adapt to virtual consulting, and since it is an approach that focuses on teaching you HOW to train and maintain new, more acceptable behaviors, the approach tends to give long lasting results compared to a board and train. You can learn more here.

What type of trainer are you?

I consider myself to be a positive, reward based trainer, although more focused on relationship and regulation of the nervous system than using food or toys.

what tools do you use?

Due to the individualized approach I take, the only tool I use across all individuals and species is food.

Should I get a behaviorist or a trainer?

If you want to learn a sport or a specific skill, a specialized trainer is the best option. If you have a behavior you’d like to stop, or your dog has not responded well to basic obedience trainer, or another trainer, is aggressive or fearful, or has experienced force based training before, then a behavior consultant will likely be more successful.

how IS pricing affected by multiple pets?

When there are multiple animals in the home, it is rare only one of them is included in the training. The Canine Connection program is the same price no matter how many pets you have, and all relevant pets will be included in the behavior plan.

What are your hours?

Emails and messages will be answered within 24-48 hours. Session times are currently scheduled on weekends but exceptions may be made based on need.

Meet the trainer: Jade Johnson, BSc.

As a neurodivergent individual with a struggling dog myself, I know first hand how overwhelming sorting through and applying training advice can be, wondering if it’s the right advice to follow and feeling like no moment is the perfect moment to start.

During my BSc. I studied ethics and biology with a focus on reptile intelligence and enrichment, but I became a behavior consultant so I could help people like you have an easygoing, conversational relationship with your pet and understand their language, nervous system, and evolution.
